darkdaycaprica is a community designed to read like a novel. You can use the sidebar to navigate the chapters.

[ This story is loosely based on the conversation between Admiral William Adama and President Laura Roslin where mention was made of a book, 'Dark Day' by Edward Prima. This story assumes the world of Battlestar Galactica. ]

Disclaimer: Obviously I do not own the Battlestar Galactica world. The title, 'Dark Day', the author, 'Edward Prima' and the world of BSG (including all recognisible names and places) are the property of Ronald Moore and David Eick. This is produced purely for entertainment purposes and no money is being made from its existence.

An Introductory to the History of the Battlestar Galactica World

According to the scrolls, originally humanity lived in peace beside their gods (based in Greek culture) on a planet called Kobol. Around 2000 years ago the peace broke down into violence and humanity split into thirteen tribes and left Kobol. Twelve tribes, (who are now the Twelve Colonies; Aerelon, Aquaria, Canceron, Caprica, Gemenon, Leonis, Libra, Picon, Sagittaron, Scorpia, Tauron, and Virgon) fled and formed the system of planets and government that this story is set in. They established the 'Articles of Colonisation' and proceeded to govern until the fall of the Colonies 52 years later. The Thirteenth tribe however, swearing against the gods, left to find home on a planet orbiting around a distant and unknown star. That planet is Earth but with little evidence to support the scriptures Earth has retreated into myth.

The President of the Colonies governs over all Twelve Colonies - is assisted by a Cabinet and advised by the religious Quorum of Twelve composed of delegates from each tribe. The Quorum has significant power when it comes to manipulating the government and all candidates for the President must be nominated and agreed on by them. If the Quorum is the Upper House then the People's Council is the Lower House of government and is considered to be the conscience of the government.

The Captial of the Colonies is considered to be Caprica and Caprica City home to the houses of parliament.
